November Employee Spotlight: Meet Kelly

Name: Kelly Praiswater
Location: West Lafayette
Position: RBT

This month’s employee spotlight features Kelly Praiswater, an enthusiastic member of our West Lafayette team. Kelly finds immense joy in working with clients, appreciating the unique capabilities and traits they bring to every interaction. At Cornerstone, Kelly is surrounded by a supportive environment, providing abundant learning opportunities that align seamlessly with their aspirations of becoming a compassionate therapist. You can find them working on their personal artwork and illustrations in their free time. Their love for all things crafts extends to getting their hands dirty in the garden, showcasing a vibrant and creative spirit.

What dreams or goals have you accomplished since coming to Cornerstone? Or what are some dreams/goals that you’re currently working on?

“My goal is simply to continue searching for the best education and career path for myself. I’ve always wanted to continue graduate school but could never narrow my focus. At Cornerstone, I’ve been able to continue working on my goal of being an effective and compassionate therapist.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I often work on personal illustration/artworks, or I’m getting myself into another craft or hobby. These have ranged from gardening to knitting and even keeping quail.”

Who (or what) inspires you?

“The people that inspire me are often the everyday people around me; when I witness someone problem-solving a situation with an incredible amount of compassion, cleverness, and diligence, I often examine and revise my action going forward. There is no shortage of people who inspire me at Cornerstone.”

What’s your favorite thing about working with children with autism or about working at Cornerstone?

My favorite thing about working with our clients is their unique capabilities and traits. They are naturally unfiltered and authentic when expressing themselves, and I know it’s a privilege when a successful working relationship and trust form.

What’s your favorite memory so far at Cornerstone?

“I don’t yet have a specific favorite memory, but I have always been floored by how helpful and supportive my coworkers and supervisors are. This is not something I’ve experienced at previous jobs.”
