With another St. Patrick’s Day in the books, we wanted to share all the festivities at our centers. Like any holiday we celebrate, we try and find ways to engage both staff and clients alike. It might not be Christmas or Halloween, but St. Patrick’s Day does have a special place in our hearts.
Before the big day, our center managers prepped by gathering sweet green treats for the staff and special prizes for the clients. In addition, staff could wear their best green accessories such as headbands, scarves, earrings, nail polish and more! So, as we prepared for the 17th, enthusiasm was in the air.
When clients and staff arrived for the day, everyone acknowledged and appreciated all the green outfits. Some clients were dressed head to toe in shades of green and even had shamrock necklaces and headbands. Others took a more straightforward approach by just wearing green shirts with cute sayings such as, “One Lucky Dude.”
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the infamous leprechaun hunt! This special event has been a staple for this holiday for years. Therapists and clients scour their centers searching for the star of the show, the leprechaun! Like Elf on the Shelf, if clients find the leprechaun, they get a special prize. Whenever our children found the leprechaun they received some adorable St. Patrick’s Day stickers that could be worn throughout the day.
Several staff members agreed to be filmed and were asked to finish the following phrase, “I’m lucky because….” Their responses ranged from, “I’m lucky because I have an amazing job that I love!” to “I feel lucky because I have support from friends outside of work as well as at work.” You can see more of those responses in our 2022 St. Patrick’s Day video below!
The saying, “Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!” rang true all day long. Laughter and smiles were plentiful, and even though the day went fast, the memories made will last a lifetime. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
May your days be many
and your troubles be few.
May all God’s blessings
descend upon you.
May peace be within you
may your heart be strong.
May you find
what you are seeking
Wherever you roam.
