June Parent Trainings: Desensitization

We all have certain things that we like and don’t like. For individuals with autism, their dislike of certain events can keep them from experiencing common activities or getting basic needs met. In thistrainingwe will discuss how desensitization programs can help individuals with autism spectrum disorder tolerate and even enjoy situations they would normally try to avoid.

Breanne Mandabach, ABA Therapist

“Live for the moments you can’t put into words.”

I’ve always had a passion for working with children. When I first started at Cornerstone, I didn’t know much about ABA or children with autism. Since starting, I have learned so much from my clients. Not only are they constantly learning and growing, but they are helping me learn and grow as a person. They are my inspiration!

It’s hard to pinpoint one favorite memory at Cornerstone; I have multiple! Some of the best memories include my morning client officially becoming potty trained or my afternoon client who took off with our new picture exchange system. I can’t choose one favorite memory because my favorite memories are the breakthroughs. When clients get excited to do things independently or when they find their voice. Each client is different, and each of their success is important.
