The Cornerstone Story

The dream of a place like Cornerstone began in 2009 as a solution to a problem. Parents, Debbie and David Ide, wanted a special program for their son. When they couldn’t find what they wanted, they set out to create it themselves. By early 2010 the dream took shape. A location was chosen, staff were hired, marketing executed, and on July 5, 2010 Cornerstone opened for business in Greenwood, Indiana. Word quickly spread and the center grew rapidly. gw-beginnings-01

By April 2011 a second facility was opened in West Lafayette, located in Purdue Research Park. Less than a year later, in January 2012, the original Greenwood facility was expanded by creating a unique environment for older clients. In 2013 Greenwood expanded once again to the current space of nearly 30,000 square feet. It is truly an impressive facility and has drawn the attention of not only folks in this state, but in neighboring states as well.

In 2014 the West Lafayette facility expanded to accommodate demand in that area, and today it serves more than twice the capacity it did when it first opened. In June of that same year a third location in Columbus was launched. Cornerstone continued to grow in each location, meeting the demand for specialized and best-in-class intervention.

In early 2017 the Columbus facility was moved to a nearby Edinburgh space that allowed the opportunity to grow in that community. Simultaneously the launch of a fourth location–a unique building in Greenwood that would serve our transitional and older population–was unveiled in May.

COVID put the world on hold when it hit in 2020, but Cornerstone persevered and opened a fifth location in Avon that year.

From humble beginnings, Cornerstone was created out of desire by parents who simply wanted excellent care for their child. The idea took root and has grown to serve multiple communities, and has changed the lives of hundreds of children and their families in Indiana.
