What’s your favorite thing about working with children with autism, or about working at Cornerstone?
“My favorite thing about working with children with autism is that I myself am on the spectrum and I love being able to give them the help and support that I would have benefited from as a child.”
If you could describe the impact of Cornerstone in one word, what would it be and why?
“If I could describe the impact of Cornerstone in one word, it would be “encouragement” because each day, we work to make the kids feel supported and give them the confidence to do hard things while cheering them on and celebrating every victory, even the small ones.”
What are some small moments of joy you experience daily in your work?
“Some small moments of joy I experience daily in my work are the times where I can make a kid laugh or smile. Being able to spread joy to them and having fun with them makes me happy. I also love seeing the kids interact with each other in positive ways and just enjoy being kids together.”
What’s a hobby or activity you’re passionate about outside of work?
“I have a degree in media arts and I love analyzing television. It amazes me how much work goes into making movies and tv and I love looking deeper into themes and paying close attention to cinematography.”
Do you have a favorite quote or life motto that you live by?
“I haven’t always been the best at following this, and it may seem simple, but I think it’s really important to embrace myself and be who I really am. I’m much happier when I worry less about what people think of me and just do what makes me happy.”
What’s the best trip you’ve ever taken or a place you’d love to visit?
“I recently went on a trip to Florida with two of my best friends who don’t live locally so we could see a band we really love together. It wasn’t so much about the destination as it was spending time with people that I love very much and getting to make good memories together.”
