Old Town Atrium is a brand-new event venue located in the historic Polk Building on the corner of Madison Avenue and Broadway, in Greenwood, IN. Light floods through arched windows and a large skylight in the two-story vaulted space. Exposed brick, original trusses and custom lighting give it a lofty, industrial feel.
How did Old Town Atrium come about?
When Cornerstone opened the doors to its second location in Greenwood, the space was designed with a beautiful atrium when you first enter the building. The large room had so much potential to be more than just a pass-through for our clients, but we needed the right fit to blend with the daily activity of our center. One day we got a request from a neighborhood organization about renting the space for a weekend event, and the light bulb went on. Renting the space after hours and on weekends made perfect sense and would dove-tail nicely with our center’s operations.
We transformed a room off the atrium into a staging kitchen, complete with stainless counters, storage and sinks, so caterers could prep and plate food out of the way. We invested in banquet tables and beautiful Chiavari chairs, so our guests could have a turn-key situation without the need to rent those items. We decided to name it ‘Old Town Atrium’ to tie into the city’s efforts to reinvent the downtown area known as Old Town Greenwood.
What events have been held at Old Town Atrium?
Since the opening of Old Town Atrium, people in the Greenwood community have taken advantage of the space for a wide range of events. We’ve hosted a neighborhood block party, the Johnson County Autism Support Group Bingo Night and a Celebration of Life for former Greenwood City Congressman Chuck Landon, to name a few. The venue is the perfect size for smaller events, and has worked well for many birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, rehearsal dinners and even a wedding reception!
What size events can Old Town Atrium host, and when is it available?
The venue can comfortably accommodate up to 120 seated guests. The space is available for rent on weekdays after 4 PM, and on weekends.
