Cornerstone Autism Center Moves to Edinburgh

Our Edinburgh Center opened on January 30, 2017 at the location of 3258 W. Market Place Drive in Edinburgh, Indiana. Cornerstone’s Chief Operating Officer Debbie Ide and Chief Clinical Officer Ken Weadick, who are also both co-founders, sought to find a building that would not only meet the needs of our current clients, but would also fulfill the needs of growth for years to come. The Edinburgh Center is easily accessible to families in Bartholomew, Brown, Jennings, Jackson, and Decatur counties, as it is conveniently located off of Interstate 65. Our center currently serves 14 clients full day and half-day with many more on the way.

BCBA and Clinical Lead Kathryn Kintner says, “The open concept of the new Edinburgh center really allows our therapists to utilize the natural environment for teaching and programming opportunities. With our treatment areas being so open and accessible, the clients are able to move around the center with ease. We now have more treatment rooms that allow much more access to reinforcement, learning opportunities, and peer interactions which are crucial for success in their programming. We have new and exciting items to play with and the clients especially love the new train table, the areas to ride bikes, and the arts and crafts area. The clients continue to love the new center and are learning more and more every day.”

BCaBA and Clinical Lead Ashley Sobecki says, “Our clients have the opportunity to explore new rooms and spaces, allowing more opportunities for greater generalization.  Our larger Motor Room allows more space for clients to practice social skills in larger groups, which has been great when developing our clients’ social play behaviors!”

The Edinburgh Center is unlike any of the other centers. The geometric points of the windows attract the clients’ attention and provide plenty of natural light throughout the building. The clients are free to roam the spacious cubes which all have different themes. These cubes contain a Classroom, Imagination Room, Bug Room, Transportation Room, Space Room, Art Room, and Group Room. The Motor Room is a popular room to play in and is located near the entrance of the building.

Our staff and clients have truly adapted to this new space, and we are excited to grow with Cornerstone in this process but also within the community.
