Staff Spotlight: Meet Mary

By Kim Williams, Marketing Assistant

This summer, we brought on our new Training Coordinator, Mary Dant. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Mary to ask a few questions about her new role.

Kim: First off, thank you so much Mary for taking the time to meet and answer my questions about your new position. In just a few words how would you describe a Training Coordinator?

Mary: A Training Coordinator is someone who helps the new hires better understand ABA and our mission here at Cornerstone. The Training Coordinator not only trains new staff, but helps them navigate the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) throughout their whole journey at Cornerstone.

Kim: What does a typical day look like in your new position?

Mary: During the New Hire Training weeks, you can find me in the training room with the new staff. Outside of those weeks, I aim to spend the majority of my time with therapists on the floor, helping to prepare them to become Registered Behavior Technicians. I try to help support our therapists as much as possible!

Kim: What are some of the biggest differences from your old position as an ABA Therapist to your current position?

Mary: I no longer work one on one with the clients, as I am focused more on training staff. I miss my clients and try to visit with them as much as I can!

Kim: How will this role challenge you?

Mary: This role challenges me to come out of my comfort zone. Before this position, I was very timid in front of an audience. This role has really helped me to speak better in front of people.

Kim: What are you most excited about with this new role?

Mary: I am most excited about spreading the knowledge of ABA! Before I came to Cornerstone, I did not know anything about ABA. This role gives me an amazing opportunity to help others who may have never heard of ABA discover the life-changing therapy we do here at Cornerstone.

Kim: Do you have any goals in this new leadership position?

Mary: My main goal is to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst! Other than that, I want to be someone the staff can turn to with questions and be a support to all those at Cornerstone.

Kim: Mary, once again thank you for speaking with me. It was such a pleasure to hear about this exciting opportunity for you. We cannot wait to see how you grow in this new role!
