Where Diego Started
When Diego first came to Cornerstone, he was using one vocal to request an item– “Ba” for ball. One area Diego had deficits in at the time of his initial assessment was listener responding.
How Diego Improved
Today while playing in the motor room you will hear Diego asking his therapists to, “Throw the red ball,” or “I want the big blue ball.” He responds to more than 100 listener responding commands throughout his day at Cornerstone! Diego’s play skills with peers has also shown improvement—his newest favorite is playing chase with friends. He has expanded the foods he will eat to include most of the foods the rest of his family eats regularly, so that makes life for mom and dad much easier!
One of our favorite Diego memories is when he led a “dance party” with a number of our therapists. He showed off his signature moves as a featured performer on our “Happy Because” video on YouTube. So proud of you Diego!
